The EMM-DIO4M-XT is a PC/104 form factor serial module offering 4 programmable serial ports. The module is based on a ST16C554 quad UART with 16-byte TX/RX FIFOs. Programmable features include serial port protocols, line termination, slew rates, enable / shutdown, base addresses, and interrupt status register address. The EMM-DIO4M-XT fits a wide variety of rugged and on-vehicle embedded serial I/O application needs.

EMM-DIO4M-XT also offers 48 programmable digital I/O lines. Configurable features include the digital I/O base address, interrupt level, output mode, and voltage level selection. The lines can be set for pull-up / pull-down resistors in two banks of 24 digital I/O lines each.

The EMM-DIO4M-XT was designed with harsh applications in mind including latching connectors to further improve reliability. Extended temperature operation of -40°C to +85°C is tested and guaranteed. The module is compatible with MIL-STD-202G shock and vibration specifications.
